Orford is a picturesque village with much to offer. For foodies there’s Pinney’s smokehouse, the Oysterage restaurant and the newly established Pump Street bakery all within the village square not to mention our freshly prepared locally sourced food at the Jolly Sailor.
Orford church holds some fantastic concerts and events year round and the village benefits from the areas illustrious musical heritage with Snape Maltings concert hall on its doorstep. Orford Castle and museum at the top of the village is well worth a visit with it’s fantastic audio tour and stunning panoramic views across Orford Ness from the top of the tower.
Regular boat trips venture from the quay a stones throw from the pub to Orford Ness and Havergate Island nature reserve in the summer months. The area is popular with bird watchers, ramblers, yachtsmen and fishermen. Rendlesham and Tunstall forest have fantastic cycling opportunities and are popular with families for UFO hunting!
We are lucky to be in close proximity to the wonderful market town of Woodbridge with its good rail connections and harbour and also not too far afield from Aldeburgh and the rest of Suffolk’s stunning coastline.
